At least 13 foreign citizens died in a major fire at a hotel located in the southern part of New Delhi, the capital of India. Among them is one citizen of Uzbekistan. It was reported that among the deceased are one citizen from Mozambique, four from Nigeria, three from Kyrgyzstan, one from Uzbekistan, one from Bangladesh, one from Liberia, one from the Republic of the Congo, and one from Iraq.
Additionally, more than 20 foreign nationals sustained injuries of varying degrees.
According to him, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs is in constant contact with all relevant embassies and is striving to provide necessary assistance. "We are working together with local authorities to formalize all required documents, as well as liaising with hospital administrations in cases where medical assistance is needed," the official said.
Earlier, Indian media reported that 18 foreign nationals had died in the fire. According to the TASS news agency, the Russian Embassy in India stated that no Russian citizens were killed or injured in the fire.
The incident occurred early on June 3 at the hotel, resulting in a total of 21 deaths and the rescue of 47 people.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the hotel owner has been taken into custody.
