The meeting discussed the economic potential of Bulungur, Narpay, Oqdarya, Paxtachi, Qushrabot, Kattaqo‘rg‘on districts and the city of Kattaqo‘rg‘on. It was noted that despite the large population in these areas, there are not enough high-income jobs. Additionally, unemployment and poverty levels remain high in some districts.
In this regard, it was proposed to develop the regions based on specific specialization. In particular, Bulungur, Qushrabot, Paxtachi, and Kattaqo‘rg‘on districts will be transformed into centers of agriculture, livestock breeding, and horticulture. A number of major investment projects are planned to be implemented in these areas.
Narpay district and the city of Kattaqo‘rg‘on have been designated as growth points for industry and services. In Narpay, an industrial zone will be established on an area of 100 hectares, hosting projects with a total value of $500 million and high added value. It is planned to attract major Japanese companies to these projects.
Oqdarya district will specialize in poultry farming, textiles, and processing industries.
Special attention was also paid to expanding the tourism potential of Samarkand region during the meeting. To this end, the initiative to turn 13 streets in the historical center of Samarkand city into pedestrian zones and create new tourism facilities was supported.
Furthermore, tasks were set to expand the "Ohalik – Oqbóyro – Mironqul" tourist-recreational zone, improve the surroundings of the Imam Moturidiy memorial complex, and develop tourism infrastructure.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President gave instructions to the responsible officials to fully utilize the available opportunities in each district, create new jobs, increase the incomes of the population, and reduce economic disparities between regions.
