Trump threatened NATO

US President Donald Trump announced today, April 2, in his address to the nation regarding the conflict with Iran, that he is seriously considering the issue of leaving NATO.

According to his words, NATO countries did not support the US in actions against Iran, and allies should have automatically provided assistance because the US had supported them in the past. Trump calls the alliance "paper tigers" and even drew attention to the fact that Vladimir Putin knows this.

Similarly, Trump emphasized that if NATO countries do not participate in the operation to open the Strait of Hormuz, the alliance faces a "very bad future." Germany, France, Italy, and Spain refused to participate in the attack operations, while Britain said it would consider the issue of assistance.

Trump called these countries "cowards" and indicated that the US will no longer help them. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, meanwhile, stressed that after the war ends, the importance of NATO needs to be reassessed.
