Kazakhstan has the capability to increase the volume of Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan and is ready for such cooperation.
This was announced by the country's Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov. According to him, the necessary infrastructure capacity exists to transport additional volumes of natural gas through the territory of Kazakhstan.
"We have such an opportunity. Everything depends on the capabilities of the transport infrastructure. The Kazakh side is ready for this. Currently, as far as I know, the Russian side is conducting separate negotiations with Uzbekistan. We, as a transit country, are ready to ensure the supply of gas," said Akkenzhenov.
The minister noted that the issue of increasing the volume of Russian gas supplied to Uzbekistan to up to 11 billion cubic meters per year is being discussed.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, that Moscow continues negotiations with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on expanding gas infrastructure and supplying additional volumes of gas.
