A French-flagged vessel passed through the Strait of Hormuz. This occurred more than a month after this vital transport route was effectively closed due to tensions between the U.S.—Israel and Iran.
It is reported that a container ship under the Maltese flag, belonging to France's CMA CGM company, passed through the strait. BFM TV reported on this. The company declined to comment on the incident.
According to shipping analysts, this is considered the first passage of a major Western European company's vessel through the strait since the start of the war.
The Iranian side stated that "non-hostile vessels" could use this waterway. However, ongoing tensions and attacks on some vessels have disrupted normal shipping activity.
According to observational data, the French-flagged vessel moved from the Omani coast side, i.e., opposite the Iranian territorial waters. It has not been disclosed what cargo the ship was carrying.
It was also reported that a Japanese-flagged vessel has exited the strait. The MOL company reported this.
"The safety of the vessel and its crew members is ensured," the company's statement said.
According to reports, in recent days, some vessels passing through the strait have been moving significantly closer than usual to the Omani coast.
