President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the national holiday of the country — Russia Day.
The head of state's congratulatory message noted that this date embodies the rich spiritual heritage, national values, and aspiration for development and progress of the Russian people.
The message also stated that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Russia are consistently developing, and cooperation in trade, economic, interregional, and humanitarian spheres has reached a new level. In particular, it was noted that the recent high-level negotiations held in St. Petersburg once again demonstrated the strength of the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the countries.
In his congratulations, the President expressed confidence that the agreements reached will serve to further deepen friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states, as well as to fully realize the potential of multifaceted partnership for the well-being of the peoples.
For reference, on June 12, 1990, the Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR adopted the "Declaration on State Sovereignty of Russia." This date is recognized as an important milestone in the history of the country's independence and modern statehood. First celebrated in 1992, the holiday was initially called "Day of the Adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty," and since 2002 it has been officially celebrated under the name "Russia Day."
