The head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, announced that a new law aimed at combating drug trafficking and protecting society from this threat has been signed.
She noted that narcotic substances destroy human life, the health of families and children, and pose a direct threat to the country's gene pool and future.
“The President signed a law aimed at an uncompromising fight against drug trafficking and protecting society from this threat. The new law places special emphasis on curbing modern methods of drug distribution, increasing liability for such crimes, and protecting minors,” wrote Mirziyoyeva.
She also stated that she has taken personal control of this issue and emphasized that every member of society must be active in the fight against drug addiction.
“No one has the right to remain a bystander in this fight. A great deal depends on ourselves — on parents, schools, and mahallas, as well as on every person who is not indifferent to what is happening around them,” she said.
For reference, in recent years, the legislative framework in Uzbekistan has been gradually improved to combat the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, particularly to curb their distribution via the internet.
