A peace agreement has been reached between the United States and Iran. This was announced by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to him, the parties have agreed to immediately and decisively halt military operations in all directions, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony of the agreement will take place on June 19 in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan, which mediated the negotiations, expressed gratitude to the United States and Iran, as well as to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, which participated in the process.
US President Donald Trump also announced on the social network Truth Social that an agreement with Iran has been finalized.
“Congratulations to everyone! I have authorized the opening of the Strait of Hormuz without duties and restrictions, as well as the immediate lifting of the naval blockade imposed by the US Navy. World ships, start your engines. Let the oil flow continue,” Trump wrote.
Later, he told journalists that the Strait of Hormuz would open after the agreement with Iran is officially signed.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed in an interview with state television that the text of the agreement with the United States has been finalized and will be signed on June 19 in Geneva.
According to him, negotiations will be held for 60 days after the agreement to develop a final peace treaty. During this period, Iran will strictly monitor the implementation of the memorandum's terms.
Also, US Vice President JD Vance said that he plans to attend the signing ceremony in Geneva, but President Donald Trump himself may also go there.
So far, the full text of the agreement has not been disclosed to the public.
