A ceremony was held for the grand opening of the "Uzbekistan Mahalla" residential complex built by Uzbekistan in the Arsuz district of Hatay province, Turkey, as well as Shavkat Mirziyoyev Boulevard and Tashkent and Samarkand streets. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
The ceremony was attended by a delegation led by Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismailov, Khorezm region governor Jurabek Rahimov, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş, Hatay province governor Mustafa Masatlı, local officials, and representatives of the public.
Speaking at the event, Numan Kurtulmuş emphasized that this initiative is a symbol of the Turkish people's sincere respect and gratitude towards the Uzbek people.
"The perpetuation of names in Arsuz that embody Uzbekistan's rich history and culture is a vivid expression of the strong friendship between the two brotherly peoples. It is a sign of the high esteem for the Uzbek people, who stood shoulder to shoulder with Turkey during these difficult days," said the head of the Turkish parliament.
The ceremony participants also highlighted the Center for Islamic Civilization being established in Uzbekistan. This center was recognized as one of the important spiritual and scientific centers of the Turkic world. Additionally, the reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the idea of the "New Renaissance" were highly praised.
Hatay province governor Mustafa Masatlı stated that the practical assistance provided by Uzbekistan after the devastating earthquake on February 6, 2023, will forever remain in the memory of the Turkish people.
"On behalf of the people of Hatay, I express deep gratitude to the friendly and brotherly Uzbek people. Naming this residential complex, officially opened during the high-level meetings held in Ankara in January of this year, as 'Uzbekistan Mahalla' is another symbol of the eternal friendship between our peoples," said Mustafa Masatlı.
During the ceremony, a symbolic ribbon was cut to mark the opening of Shavkat Mirziyoyev Boulevard, Tashkent Street, and Samarkand Street.
It was noted that this residential complex is an important example of Uzbekistan's humanitarian aid in rebuilding Hatay province. The project is regarded as a practical expression of the strategic partnership and brotherly relations between the two countries.
