Civil servants are taken to prisons so that they see the consequences of corruption.

A similar practice has been implemented in Kazakhstan, and it was reported that in 2024, it was planned to take the country's officials on excursions to pre-trial detention centers and prisons.

In Uzbekistan, a practice of organizing preventive visits for civil servants to penal institutions and pre-trial detention centers is being introduced.

It is noted that this initiative is being implemented with the aim of forming an intolerant attitude towards such actions among civil servants by demonstrating in practice the severe consequences of corruption offenses.

According to the agency, during the visits, civil servants will closely familiarize themselves with interrogation rooms, cells for detainees, and other infrastructure facilities of the institutions.

Also, meetings and conversations with individuals serving sentences for corruption crimes will be organized. Through this, it is intended to strengthen the responsibility to use service powers solely in the interests of the people and the state, and to increase commitment to the principles of honesty and the rule of law.

According to the plan, the initial visits will involve leadership and responsible employees of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, and the Cadastre Agency. In subsequent stages, heads of other ministries and departments, as well as civil servants working in areas with high corruption risks, will be covered.
