At least one person was killed and 89 others were injured to varying degrees after two passenger trains collided near the town of Bedford, UK. This was reported by The New York Times here.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 17:15 local time on June 19. A large-scale operation involving rescue services and medical personnel was launched after the incident.
According to the East of England Ambulance Service, 33 people were seriously injured and 56 were lightly injured. It was later reported that the deceased person was the driver of one of the trains.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the incident alarming and expressed condolences to the victim's family and those affected.
Currently, experts are conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the collision.
