Uzbek citizens held in correctional colony No. 3 in Russia's Tomsk region have been inquired about. This was reported by the "Dunyо" news agency in a statement.
Diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan visited the facility and spoke with compatriots serving sentences. According to data, approximately 70 Uzbek citizens are currently held in the colony.
During the meetings, the appeals of the convicts were reviewed, and explanations on legal matters were provided. They were also reminded that participation in military actions abroad constitutes a criminal offense under Uzbekistan's legislation.
During the visit, a number of issues were also resolved on the spot. In particular, medical care was ensured for a convict suffering from asthma, and applications for passport processing from two citizens were accepted.
Additionally, the address of an Uzbek citizen, who lost contact with relatives after being released in May, was identified, and his family was informed accordingly.
