During the inspection of a passenger's hand luggage and baggage arriving from Bangkok by officers of the "Tashkent International Airport" border customs post of the "Tashkent-Aero" specialized customs complex, a suspicious situation was identified. During the inspection, 12 polyethylene packages hidden inside various shoes were found among the luggage.
When the packages were opened for inspection in the prescribed manner and with the participation of witnesses, the green-colored, pungent-smelling substance inside, according to the conclusion of the Central Customs Laboratory, was found to be more than 6.3 kilograms of dried marijuana. This substance is considered a narcotic drug whose circulation is prohibited in Uzbekistan.
A criminal case has been initiated by the customs authorities regarding the incident.
It is reported that in the first quarter of the current year, the rapid response structures and customs posts of the "Tashkent-Aero" specialized customs complex have prevented 15 cases of illegal cross-border transportation and internal circulation of narcotic drugs weighing almost 30 kilograms, including synthetic narcotics.
It was noted that the seized narcotic drugs have increased by 18 kilograms compared to the same period last year.
