The European Union has allocated 5 million euros in emergency humanitarian aid to help mitigate the consequences of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. This was reported by Zamon.uz citing the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

It is noted that the European Union has activated its Civil Protection Mechanism, and search and rescue teams, firefighters, and medical personnel have been dispatched to Venezuela through a number of member states.

Furthermore, the aid program envisions accelerating rescue operations in the affected areas, providing first medical aid to the injured, and covering essential humanitarian needs.

EU representative Kaja Kallas expressed deep condolences to the relatives of the earthquake victims following a dialogue with Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez, and emphasized that the European Union stands in solidarity with the people of Venezuela.

The EU also stated its readiness to provide additional support during the recovery efforts in the region.
