In Uzbekistan, problem loans exceeded 23.6 trillion soums.

16.7 trillion sum of problem loans falls to state banks, while the remaining 6.9 trillion sum falls to private banks.

As of the end of May 2026, the volume of non-performing loans in the banking system of Uzbekistan increased by 1.7 trillion som (7.7 percent). According to the 

Central Bank's statement, as of June 1, the total amount of non-repaid loans in the country exceeded 23.6 trillion som. For comparison, on May 1 this figure was 21.9 trillion som.

Of the non-performing loans, 16.7 trillion som are attributable to state banks. This is 1.6 trillion som more than the figure a month earlier. The remaining 6.9 trillion som account for the share of private banks, having increased by 100 billion som over the month.

The largest non-performing loans were recorded at state banks. In particular, Uzmilliybank ranks first with 3.54 trillion som. The next positions are occupied by Agrobank (3.1 trillion), Uzsanoatqurilishbank (2.1 trillion), Asakabank (1.94 trillion), Mikrokreditbank (1.78 trillion), Khalqbank (1.75 trillion), and Businessbank (1.1 trillion).

Among private banks, the largest non-performing loans are attributable to Kapitalbank (1.3 trillion som). Next is Ipotekabank (over 1 trillion som).

According to the data, although the volume of non-performing loans decreased to 18.05 trillion som by the end of 2025, a renewed increase has been observed during the current year. In January it was 19.3 trillion, in February 20.2 trillion, and in March 19.86 trillion som. In April, the debt volume rose again.

Overall, over the past five years, the volume of non-performing loans in the country has increased significantly. The figure, which was 5.8 trillion som at the beginning of 2021, has increased several times in subsequent years.
