On June 28, Pakistan launched airstrikes on three provinces bordering Afghanistan and conducted ground military operations. Islamabad announced that at least 29 militants were killed as a result of these operations. The Taliban, however, reported that dozens of people were killed and injured in the attacks, labeling Pakistan's actions a "crime." This was reported by the Reuters news agency.
According to Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, four members of the Jamat ul-Ahrar group were killed in the ground operations. This organization is part of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
Additionally, airstrikes were conducted on three targets in Afghanistan's provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar. According to the Pakistani side, these attacks resulted in the elimination of another 25 militants and the destruction of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
Meanwhile, Taliban officials told the BBC that at least 100 people were killed or injured as a result of the Pakistani airstrikes.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid strongly condemned Pakistan's actions.
"Dozens of people were killed and injured as a result of Pakistan's airstrikes. Among them are women and children. We consider this cowardly aggression a crime and an act of brutality," he said.
Deputy Taliban government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat stated that Pakistani forces bombed the districts of Gayan in Paktika province, Charkh in Paktia province, and Manogi in Kunar province.
Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized that these operations were a response to a series of recent terrorist attacks in the country. In particular, in the city of Karachi, members of Jamat ul-Ahrar attacked a Sindh Rangers facility using firearms and explosives. As a result, three soldiers were killed and four others were injured.
Pakistani officials have long accused the Taliban government in Afghanistan of harboring militant groups operating in the country. Kabul has consistently denied these allegations.
