President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held negotiations with President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili in Tbilisi as part of a state visit to Georgia.
The sides discussed issues of expanding trade and economic ties, and developing cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, tourism, and digital technologies.
Today, on July 2, official negotiations between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili took place at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi.
During the negotiations, issues of further expanding the multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia were considered.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to Mikheil Kavelashvili for the warm reception and noted that the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Georgia is taking place for the first time in the last 23 years.
At the meeting, it was noted that contacts between parliaments, governments, and business circles have significantly intensified in recent years. According to the results of 2025, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 270 million dollars. The number of joint enterprises and projects is also increasing.
It was also noted that one of Georgia's major financial institutions, TBC Bank, is successfully operating in Uzbekistan, direct flights are being carried out between Tashkent, Tbilisi, and Batumi, and in March of this year, Days of Georgian Culture were held in Tashkent.
The sides paid special attention to increasing the volume of mutual trade, in particular, effectively utilizing the transit potential of the ports of Poti and Batumi.
Furthermore, opportunities for implementing new joint projects in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, agriculture, transport, energy, digital technologies, and tourism were discussed.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili to visit Uzbekistan on an official visit.
