In the World Cup round of 16, the French national team defeated Paraguay 1-0 and secured a spot in the quarterfinals.
The match was officiated by Uzbek FIFA referee Ilgiz Tantashev. He was assisted by assistant referees Andrey Tsapenko and Timur Gaynullin.
The only goal of the match was scored from a penalty in the 70th minute. It was sent into the net with a precise strike by French forward Kylian Mbappé.
Meanwhile, in another round of 16 match, Morocco secured a convincing victory over Canada — 3:0. This match took place at the NRG Stadium in Houston, USA.
For Morocco, goals were scored by Azzedine Ounahi in the 50th and 82nd minutes, and by Sofiane Rahimi in the 90+8th minute. Rahimi replaced the injured Ismail Saibari in the 22nd minute and became the scorer of a brace.
Thus, the first quarterfinal pair of the World Cup was determined — on July 9, the national teams of France and Morocco will face off for a spot in the semifinals.
