In the state of Ohio, USA, a 21-year-old young man died in a traffic accident involving a truck driven by a citizen of Uzbekistan. The Uzbek driver has been charged with attempting to conceal physical evidence. Local media reported this.
According to reports, the incident occurred on July 5 on Interstate 71 in Madison County, Ohio. A Freightliner truck driven by 42-year-old Uzbek citizen Bekhzod Asrarov collided with a Honda Accord passenger car. As a result, the driver of the passenger car, 21-year-old Tobias Forsyth, died at the scene.
It is noted that Asrarov moved to the US in 2024 through the Diversity Visa (Green Card) program. He had the required driver's license to operate the truck, but because he did not know English, police officers communicated with him through Google Translate.
According to investigation materials, patrol officers arriving at the scene found that a dashcam device was installed in the truck cabin, but its camera was missing. Later, Asrarov showed that he had put the camera in his pocket.
Subsequently, he was charged with attempting to conceal or destroy physical evidence. Additionally, three mobile phones and an electronic freight shipping tablet were found near him.
So far, Asrarov has not been formally charged in connection with the young man's death. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed in the case.
It has been reported that the deceased, Tobias Forsyth, played as a goalkeeper for the University of Massachusetts football team.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also commented on the incident. He emphasized that drivers who do not know English should not be allowed to operate heavy trucks in the country.
"We cannot allow drivers who cannot communicate with traffic signs and law enforcement officers to operate 80,000-pound trucks on American highways," Duffy said.
He stated that additional measures will be taken to remove dangerous drivers from the road in order to prevent such incidents.
We recall that earlier in Arizona, reports circulated about a citizen of Uzbekistan involved in a traffic accident using multiple driver's licenses.
