US President Donald Trump announced that if Iran does not return to negotiations, the country's bridges and power plants will be struck next week. He stated this in an interview with Fox News.
According to Trump, the US has made a firm demand for Iran to return to the negotiating table.
"Next week will be very tough for them. If they do not negotiate, we will shut down all power plants and destroy their bridges," he said.
It is reported that this statement comes amid the fourth consecutive day of military tensions between the US and Iran.
Additionally, Trump said he had abandoned the threat of imposing a 20% fee on cargo shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, but pressure on Iranian ports would remain.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk had earlier emphasized that deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes under international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that additional strikes had been launched to limit Iran's military capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed strikes on two tankers in the Persian Gulf, stating they had failed to heed warnings.
