At the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, USA, a resolution prepared on the initiative of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev titled "On Strengthening the Role of Parliaments in Accelerating Social Development" was adopted.

This document was approved by an overwhelming majority of member states. During the voting process, 167 countries supported the resolution.

This initiative was first put forward by Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2020.

Over the past period, as a result of Uzbekistan's diplomatic efforts, this idea was turned into an international document and supported by the world community.

The resolution reflects issues of strengthening the role of parliaments in ensuring social development, ensuring social equality, expanding the participation of women and youth in political processes, as well as strengthening cooperation among developing countries.

The document specifically notes the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Uzbekistan and the Tashkent Declaration adopted at it.

According to reports, 61 countries joined the resolution as co-authors, including countries such as Austria, Germany, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and Spain.

It was noted that this document was another important step in Uzbekistan's initiatives on the international arena and in developing parliamentary diplomacy.
