On the eve of the new school year, it was requested not to unreasonably increase prices for textbooks, school uniforms, school supplies and other items at the “School markets” organized in the territory of Uzbekistan. The Competition Committee reported this.

It is noted that seasonal “School markets” are currently operating at secondary schools, farmers' markets and shopping complexes. There, parents and students are purchasing school supplies, textbooks, school uniforms and other items necessary for the new school year.

The Competition Committee emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and interests of consumers during the trading process, ensuring a competitive environment, and ensuring the availability of quality and affordable products for the population.

The Committee recommended that parents and students pay attention to the quality, manufacturer, price and other important information of the product when purchasing.

Business entities, in turn, were reminded that the quality and prices of products sold at “School markets” must be justified, that necessary information must be provided to consumers, and that their rights must be respected.

“The Competition Committee calls on business entities operating at school markets not to unreasonably increase prices for textbooks, school uniforms, school supplies and other items, and to strictly comply with established legal requirements,” the committee's warning states.

If citizens encounter cases of unreasonable price increases at “School markets”, they can contact the Competition Committee via the short number 1159.
