A charter plane with 8 people on board may have crashed near a remote radar station in the US state of Alaska. This was reported by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
According to Clint Johnson, head of NTSB's Alaska region, the plane had 2 pilots and 6 passengers. There is no exact information about their fate yet.
It turned out that the plane took off from Anchorage. It may have crashed on the afternoon of August 20 while landing in the Cape Newenham area.
The Alaska Rescue Coordination Center received a report that an incident involving an aircraft occurred near the Cape Newenham long-range radar station. Search and rescue operations were then launched in the area.
NTSB representatives stressed that the information is still preliminary. Search operations are ongoing, and additional information will be made public as it becomes available.
