The event is being attended by nearly 300 representatives of media and expert communities from about 50 countries — heads of major media companies, news agencies and television channels, journalists, publishers, filmmakers, scientists, researchers, and specialists in the field of digital technologies.
The main venue of the forum, held in Tashkent and Samarkand, was the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The conference was organized on the eve of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's state independence.
Speakers at the opening of the forum addressed issues of conveying the heritage of Islamic civilization to the international community through modern media tools, objectively covering historical truth, and strengthening mutual trust between different peoples.
The event held at the Center of Islamic Civilization has a special symbolic meaning. Indeed, Islamic civilization is, first and foremost, a vast historical heritage based on the principles of knowledge, enlightenment, thought, and tolerance. The Center is considered one of the important venues aimed at introducing this heritage to the general public on the basis of scientific, cultural, and modern technological approaches.
Major world media outlets are also participating in the media forum. In particular, CNN and Euronews are taking part as the forum's main information partners. Representatives of international media such as BBC and TRT World are also among the conference participants.
The forum program includes plenary sessions, discussions, special presentations, media exhibitions, press briefings, and bilateral meetings. They will discuss issues of presenting historical and cultural heritage in modern formats in the international media space, utilizing the potential of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, and introducing new approaches in journalism.
In particular, Klaus Struns, Executive and Editorial Director of Euronews, delivered a special presentation at the forum on the topic of bringing Europe and Central Asia closer together through culture, media, and ideas. Representatives of CNN are also participating in the forum's plenary sessions.
As noted, such dialogue platforms serve to present Uzbekistan's rich civilizational heritage in the global information space on the basis of new interpretations and to strengthen professional cooperation among international journalists and experts.
The international media forum will continue until August 28 in Tashkent and Samarkand.
