Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Yerevan is interested in maintaining the existing strategic partnership and cooperation relations with the Russian Federation, as well as consistently developing them.
He emphasized that Armenia's foreign policy steps are multi-vector, and the country simultaneously seeks to expand cooperation with Russia, the United States, and the European Union.
Through this, Mirzoyan commented on statements made by some Russian politicians that Yerevan is moving closer to the West and relations with Moscow are cooling. According to him, Armenia's development of ties with the United States and the European Union is not directed against Russia but is based on national interests and principles of practical cooperation.
At the same time, the Armenian side noted that foreign relations in each direction are conducted on the basis of mutual benefit, sovereign equality, and a pragmatic approach.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that there are attempts to draw Armenia into a political camp directed against Russia.
