“On Amendments and Additions to the Law on Employment of the Population” draft law of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been announced.

The draft law introduces the following changes to the Law on Employment of the Population:

  • the introduction of a service for the employment, by referral, of women who have suffered from pressure and violence and have the necessary skills and knowledge, based on applications from “Human” social service centers, to government agencies and organizations by local labor bodies;
  • the arrangement for registering women who have suffered from pressure and violence and have the necessary skills and knowledge, as job seekers in local labor bodies, based on applications from “Human” social service centers, without their direct application;
  • the establishment of accountability measures for governmental organizations and organizations with a state share of fifty percent or more, for unjustifiably rejecting individuals referred for employment by local labor bodies, including women who have suffered from pressure and violence and have the necessary skills and knowledge referred by “Human” social service centers, given the availability of vacant (open) positions.

The adoption of the draft law will serve to increase the efficiency of services provided to the population in terms of employment, and to strengthen the social protection of women with the necessary skills and knowledge who have suffered from pressure and violence, by ensuring their employment.
