On September 14–15, a unique natural site in the Republic of Karakalpakstan – the Borsakelmas area hosted the international eco-marathon "Our Contribution to the Future of Our Planet".

The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change in collaboration with the ProRun running school and "Uzbekneftegaz" JSC.

This year, a record number of participants from 11 countries – Uzbekistan, India, Kenya, Togo, Sudan, Jordan, Spain, Canada, Denmark, Belarus, Russia – totaling 250 professional and amateur runners, took part in the marathon.

To ensure the safety and comfort of the participants, 200 people were involved in organizing the marathon. The two-day event included accommodation in yurt camps, a cultural program, ethno-show, trips to the Borsakelmas salt marshes, a 42 km marathon, 21 km half marathon, and 5 and 10 km runs.

It is noteworthy that the Borsakelmas marathon turned not only into a sports event but also a true celebration of the unity between humans and nature. It proved that sport can not only be a competition but also a means of discovering and preserving the astonishing world around us. This marathon united runners, eco-tourists, and those concerned about the environment in a collective effort to preserve unique places on our planet. Participants were indeed given the opportunity to support our nature, demonstrating their strength and endurance.
