The United Arab Emirates Football Association has expelled two footballers from the national team and fined each of them 500,000 dirhams (approximately 136,000 US dollars). The announcement was made yesterday, June 8, by the UAE Football Association officially in a statement.

As stated, 21-year-old Sultan Adil ("Shabab Al-Ahli") and 28-year-old Khaled Ibrahim ("Sharjah") were punished for unacceptable behavior during the national team's training camp. They have also been disqualified from national competitions for five games.

“The Discipline Committee of the UAE Football Association has decided to disqualify Sharjah team player Khaled Ibrahim and Shabab Al-Ahli team player Sultan Adil from local competitions for five games and fined each of them 500,000 dirhams,” the statement said.

It has not been disclosed which specific rules the players violated.

For information, the UAE national team did not secure one of the top two spots in its group in the third stage of the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup, and now it will participate in the fourth stage. They drew with the Uzbekistan national team in Abu Dhabi on June 5th of this year, thereby allowing the national teams of Uzbekistan and Iran to secure direct qualification to the World Cup from this group.

The UAE national team will play its next match tomorrow, June 10, against Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek.
