At the "25th Anniversary of Independence" gas field in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya, a new accident on Tuesday, September 17, resulted in the death of four people. This information was confirmed to "Gazeta.uz" by Sherzod Asadov, the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.

According to him, those who died were employees of a contracting organization working at the mine. Their identities have been confirmed.

A day before, several sources in the Boysun district, including hospital staff, reported that four people had died. The number of injured is being verified.

It is known that several injured people have sought medical help. Not all of them needed to be hospitalized. As of 16:00, one worker was in the hospital.

At a briefing held on Wednesday at the Information and Public Communications Agency in Tashkent, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and the Prosecutor General's Office confirmed in response to a question whether it was true that two people had died as a result of the accident.

As Sherzod Asadov informed, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was immediately notified of the incident. He gave appropriate instructions and is receiving information about the situation in real time.

Heads of responsible ministries and organizations have arrived at the site of the incident. Foreign experts have been involved to assist local structures in dealing with the consequences of the accident.

Details of the incident and other information are expected to be announced in the evening by the Ministers of Emergency Situations and Energy, who are in the Boysun district.
