Transport is one of the essential means that eases the burden of people. In particular, the demand for public transportation, especially the metro, is increasing day by day, ensuring our easy and safe arrival from one destination to another.
It must be noted that under the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, extensive efforts are being made in recent years to develop the metro system.
If we turn to the numbers, during the first 40 years, the number of metro stations was 29 with a total length of 38 km. Thanks to the construction works carried out in the last 6 years, 21 new stations were built and put into operation, covering a total length of 33 km. As a result, the total length of the metro routes has reached 71 km, and the number of stations has become 50.
As the number of routes and stations increases, the demand for the metro also increases further. If in 2021, 280-300 thousand passengers were served per day, this figure is expected to reach 920-930 thousand by 2024. By the end of 2024, the number of passengers using the metro per day is expected to reach 1 million.
If you notice, during peak hours, the stations and trains are crowded. To create convenience for passengers, to serve them safely and culturedly, and also to reduce congestion, a number of works are being carried out by the “Tashkent Metro” JSC.
In particular, during this year, 14 train sets have been purchased, as a result, the intervals during peak times are being made as follows:
“Chilonzor” direction, 1.5-2 minutes;
“Uzbekistan” direction, 4 minutes;
“Yunusabad” direction, 4-5 minutes;
And in the direction of “30 Years of Uzbekistan Independence surface ring road”, 8-9 minutes.
Additionally, the movement of reserve trains is also being established on the routes.
Indeed, until 2021, 36 trains were operating in the Tashkent Metro, but in the last 3 years, 29 new modern train sets have been purchased, and by 2024, the total number of trains reached 65.
Starting from the end of this year and throughout 2025, it is planned to purchase an additional 48 and 56 modern metro wagons respectively. As a result, this will lead to the renewal of the fleet of train sets and a decrease in the interval between trains on the routes.
