Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that an attack on the Kursk region of Ukraine resulted in at least 56 civilians killed and 266 injured, according to Reuters.
The data corresponds to the period up until September 20, and as of September 5, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced that 31 civilians had been killed in the Kursk region.
According to the Russian MFA, 131 thousand people have fled the areas where combat operations are being conducted. Moscow also accused Ukraine of hindering the evacuation of approximately 70-120 residents of the city of Sudzha, among others, which has been occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In response to a request for comment on these statements, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tikhii, told Reuters that the Ukrainian armed forces comply with international humanitarian laws and do not target civilians.
"Russia continuously presents false numbers and propaganda, making it impossible to verify these claims," said Tikhii. "If Russia wants to show the real situation, it could allow access to the UN and the Red Cross."
The Ukrainian armed forces' attack on the Kursk region started in August.
