During the funeral of 80-year-old Halit Bayshun in a mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, it was discovered that he was alive. NTV reported this.
According to the publication, a voice was heard from the coffin as preparations for the funeral ceremony were underway. Following this, the funeral attendees called doctors. After opening the coffin, they detected the elderly man's pulse.
“I leaned over the coffin and heard some sound, after which emergency services were called,” said Galib Akchay, head of the Ayvansaray neighborhood.
The doctors who arrived in time performed cardiac massage on Halit Bayshun and took him to the hospital, but he later passed away.
For your information, similar cases have been observed before. For example, in 2021 in Lebanon, during a funeral, it was noticed that the "deceased" was breathing. Thereafter, doctors confirmed that the man lying in the open coffin was still alive, but how he was initially declared dead remained unexplained.
A similar case was observed in Indonesia. There, a 12-year-old girl named Siti "resurrected" while preparations for the funeral ceremony were being made. The teenager had been admitted to the hospital due to diabetes and organ damage. There, her death was recorded, and her body was handed over to her family.
“Suddenly her eyes opened, and we noticed her heart started beating again,” recalls the girl's father.
Doctors who arrived provided her with oxygen to assist her breathing, but she passed away after an hour.
Possibly, Siti could have been revived due to a condition known as "Lazarus syndrome." This condition occurs approximately ten minutes after death due to heart failure or after attempts at resuscitation. During "Lazarus syndrome," cardiac activity is restored, people breathe, cough, and sometimes even movements can be detected. However, sometimes people die again shortly after circulation is restored.
