Russia became the first country in the world to officially recognize the “Taliban” regime in Afghanistan. This was reported by TASS and Reuters agencies, based on a statement from the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the information, the flag symbolizing the “Taliban” government was raised for the first time at the Afghan embassy in Moscow. During a meeting, the Russian ambassador officially announced this decision and described it as a “historic step,” the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
It is reminded that the “Taliban” movement has been recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia since 2003. However, after the U.S. troops left Afghanistan and the Taliban took over power, the Kremlin opted for an open dialogue with them.
Thus, Russia has become the first country to officially recognize the “Taliban.”
