An office for the Telegram messenger will be opened in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiev, during a meeting with representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce and major American companies.
Madiev emphasized that his agency is actively collaborating with Telegram to promptly remove illegal content and block disruptive channels.
"According to our legislation, internet platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and TikTok are now required to have a representative in Kazakhstan. An agreement has already been reached with Telegram to appoint their representative and open an office," said the minister.
Additionally, he mentioned that the agreement with the messenger is an important step towards strengthening control over content.
Telegram is considered one of the most secure messengers, known for not disclosing its users' information to third parties. In September, its founder, Pavel Durov, mentioned that Telegram could disclose users' IP addresses and phone numbers in response to legitimate requests from the authorities.
