Hundreds of rescuers have been mobilized in the heart of Texas to search for missing people, following floods that resulted in the death of 51 individuals, including 15 children. This was reported by the BBC.

According to the publication, the most affected area is Kerr County, where 43 people died and 27 children from a Christian youth camp located along the Guadalupe River went missing.

"The operation is ongoing and will continue until everyone is found," promised Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.

In other parts of the state, including Travis County and Tom Green County, there have also been confirmed fatalities.

Several flood warnings remain in place for the central parts of Texas over the weekend.

So far, approximately 850 people have been rescued.

At a press conference held after noon on Saturday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced he had signed an expanded declaration of emergency.
