Taiwan has launched a new military unit based on the HIMARS high mobility missile systems purchased from the US. The official opening ceremony took place on July 4th at the Army's 58th Artillery Command. Defense Minister Wellington Koo participated in the event, according to "zamon.uz .
In total, Taiwan has ordered 29 HIMARS systems, 11 of which were delivered last year. These systems are capable of launching six 227 mm caliber rockets or one tactical missile. Minister Koo emphasized that the country's defense capability and the precision of missile strikes would only increase through this technology.
The unit's military personnel underwent specialized training in the US last year. They gained experience in assembling missile systems, managing ammunition, and using mobile launch platforms.
According to Koo, this new HIMARS unit received a positive evaluation during a recent inspection. He also expressed hope for its successful participation in the Han Kuang 41 military exercises set to take place at the end of July.
