The Press Service of the CSS reports as mentioned, that the average life expectancy of people around the world is increasing yearly. Specifically, by 2030, individuals aged 60 and above are expected to constitute one-sixth of the Earth's population.

For instance, in 2020, their number was 1 billion. By 2030, this figure is forecasted to reach 1.4 billion.

By 2050, the population of people aged 60 and above will double, rising to 2.1 billion. In the same period, the number of people aged 80 and older will triple, reaching 426 million.

According to experts, these analyses confirm that the share of the elderly within the global population composition is increasing. This process, in particular, has accelerated in developed countries.

For example, in Japan, individuals older than 60 years already constitute 30 percent of the population.

In low or middle-income countries, it is estimated that by 2050, the elderly will make up two-thirds of the population.

These indicators place the task of preparing healthcare and social security systems for these demographic changes on the agenda.
