It is predicted that Uzbekistan's WTO membership will contribute to an additional 17 percent increase in GDP within the next 5-7 years
This was announced during the annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C., in collaboration with the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the International Monetary Fund within the framework of “Uzbekistan's Path to WTO Membership: Reforms and Global Integration” high-level panel discussion
At the meeting, discussions were held on the important reforms being carried out by Uzbekistan within the framework of its WTO membership, as well as issues related to multilateral trading system and joining the global value chains
On behalf of Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev emphasized the extensive and strategic reforms being implemented in the country and the inseparability of WTO membership from these fundamental changes, “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy outlining the goals set and plans for achieving them.
Finally, the participants of the roundtable noted the significant successes on the path of reforms and integration, and underscored the importance of further strengthening cooperation in order to finalize the process of Uzbekistan joining the World Trade Organization by 2026 noted.
