Recently, the deterioration of air quality in Tashkent city has been a concern for everyone. Notably, yesterday our capital was again listed among the cities with deteriorating air quality in the global Air Quality Index (AQI) ranking.
Analyses reveal that in our major cities, the most harmful emissions come from stationary sources and vehicles, contributing significantly to the degradation of air quality.
It must be mentioned that due to the increased demand for energy resources by various sectors of the economy and the population, there is a growing trend in the use of hydrocarbons, including coal.
Taking into account that currently, 631 greenhouses operate on 1314 hectares of land around Tashkent city, 60 percent of which use coal, and sometimes rubber tires and other combustibles, it can be said that greenhouses also contribute significantly to the worsening air quality.
Additionally, much of the air pollution results from the physical obsolescence of equipment in many industrial enterprises and the insufficient implementation of modern filtration systems in most enterprises.
The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan expresses its concern over any cases of air pollution and emphasizes the urgency of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change and the Prosecutor General's Office to take immediate actions against this problem, submitting a parliamentary inquiry in the established manner.
Our party's pre-election program includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent by 2030, halving the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere, and developing public transport through electric buses, taking into account all sources of atmospheric air pollution, including industrial enterprises and vehicles.
The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan undertakes systematic parliamentary and public oversight to address the issues related to air pollution in Tashkent city.
