In Kokand, supporters of the “Tawhid and Jihad Brigade” international terrorist organization were deprived of freedom. The press service of the State Security Service reported this.
According to the information, during the special search operations conducted by the State Security Service employees in the city of Kokand, the activity of the “Tawhid and Jihad Brigade” international terrorist organizationsupporters was exposed.
The group consisted of 11 members living in Kokand city and the districts of Uzbekistan, born between 1980-2000, including citizens who worked as a manager in the pharmaceutical sector, a chief mechanic at a gas station, as well as private entrepreneurs, chefs, craftsmen, and taxi drivers.
During 2021-2023, illegal group members organized gatherings under the guise of “ritual banquets” in tea houses located in Kokand city, at which speeches soaked with ideas of jihad and martyrdom, calls to establish an Islamic state, religious extremism, and ideologism including teachings by Abdulloh Zufar, Sodiq Samarkandiy, Yahyo Turkiy and others were listened to, resulting in the radicalization towards extremist ideas.
Furthermore, they discussed changing the existing state structure in our country in a way that contradicts the Constitution and establishing a “Caliphate” state.
Most regrettably, some members of the group also discussed the matter of emigrating to Syria.
Moreover, two of them collaborated to provide financial aid to a person from Kokand named Jasur, who is currently involved in the activities of the “Tawhid and Jihad Brigade” international terrorist organization in Syria, by sending a total of 3000 US dollars in July and August 2023.
It should be noted that the group members aimed to expand their ranks by attracting other citizens to the meetings, indoctrinating them with extremist ideas.
In the “Telegram” messenger group, they exchanged information and announced the time and location of the next meeting.
Additionally, they reported to the group leader every 15 days, on what actions they had taken within a month.
According to the verdict of the Kokand City Criminal Court, the members of this illegal group were found guilty under Articles 155 paragraph 3, 159, 244 paragraph 1, and 244 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, and were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 6 to 12 years.
