President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the new electric train on the "Tashkent – Khodjikent" route on December 6. This was reported by the Presidential press service here.

According to the decision of our state leader on October 10 last year, the "Uzbekistan Railways" joint-stock company is being transformed. Six independent enterprises dealing with infrastructure, wagon service, passenger transportation, among others, have started operating within the company.

The fleet of trains is also being expanded. Especially, conveniences for the population and tourists in passenger transportation are being increased. New trains have been purchased. The number of trips of "Afrosiyob" electric trains from Tashkent to our historical cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, and Karshi has been increased.

Over the past period, more than 3,000 kilometers of railways have been electrified in our country. The electrification of the Bukhara – Urgench –Khiva railway lines is in the final stage. The rapid continuation is in progress on the Miskin – Nukus direction. Around Tashkent, an electrified rail was constructed,  increasing the train passage capacity by 30 percent.

Now, the new electric train is being launched on the "Tashkent – Khodjikent" route. The leader of our state boarded this train and observed its movement and conveniences.

The carriages are comfortable and bright, convenient for passengers. The number of seats is 586. Information boards and a fire safety system have been installed. The train can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. Three round trips are made daily in each direction.

During the trip, the leader of our state listened to the reports of officials on the development of the railway infrastructure, improving conditions for passengers, electrifying the railways, and beautifying the areas adjacent to them.

Instructions were given to include the areas adjacent to the railway between Tashkent and Khodjikent in the renovation program for 2025 and to put them in order. A task was set to increase the daily express train trips and create conditions for serving more passengers by straightening the curved sections along the route.

The works within the scope of the "Green Space" project were also discussed. The need to landscape the areas along the railway, to plant drought-resistant plants in water-scarce areas based on foreign experience, and to import only seedlings adapted to our local climate from abroad was noted.
