Based on the decision No. 222 dated April 19, 2021, of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan about “Measures to support talented youth engaged in scientific and innovative activities”, since 2021, the Agency for Innovative Development has been announcing the “Academic Mobility” program with the aim of supporting talented youth engaged in scientific and innovative activities, providing them with the right to use unique scientific objects, modern scientific laboratories, and experimental design bureaus of the ministry, agency, and organization system of scientific institutions and higher education institutions free of charge.
“Academic Mobility” program – is a program that envisions young scientists participating in scientific events held at leading scientific centers within the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan without detaching from their workplace, implementing research projects, and, furthermore, including the exchange of experience.
About 40 projects were submitted by young scientists for the competition announced for the year 2024. A special working group reviewed the projects based on several criteria such as the topic and relevance of the scientific research, its object, subject, goals and objectives, and expected scientific results. At the end of the competition, 13 projects were declared winners. The Agency for Innovative Development awarded certificates worth a total of 734 million UZS to the winning young scientists to use modern laboratories of a total of 8 scientific institutions in our republic for up to six months free of charge.
Conditions for using the laboratories will be created by the Deputy Director responsible for science and innovation of the accepting organizations for the winning young scientists.
Currently, there are more than 20,000 young scientists and researchers in the republic, and in the future, it is planned to broadly attract them to science through the “Academic Mobility” program, to create necessary conditions for conducting scientific research, to further support them by the state, and of course, to systematically work on directing them towards scientific and innovative activities. A competition according to this program is also planned to be announced this year.
