During the meeting, deputies reviewed the issue of changing the borders of Samarqand city, Samarqand, and Oqdaryo districts in Samarqand region here.
As emphasized, various actions are being undertaken to further improve the architectural appearance of Samarqand city and enhance its appeal to foreign and local investors as well as to efficiently utilize the tourism potential of the region, accelerate the development of modern business, financial, and tourist infrastructure, and improve the variety and quality of service services.
In particular, efforts are underway to establish the Directorate for the Construction of the "Shirin" modern business center and residential complex complex in the region during 2023 – 2030.
Based on the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers, it is envisaged that 170 hectares of land from Samarqand district and 243 hectares from Oqdaryo district will be transferred into the composition of Samarqand city.
During the meeting, the draft decision was discussed at the relevant community meetings, councils of people’s deputies of Samarqand city, Samarqand and Oqdaryo districts, and the regional council, and the cartographic map of borders and the description of the border lines were approved. Moreover, the draft decision stipulates that the Government is assigned to implement comprehensive measures with the aim of changing the borders of the territory and systematically implementing the tasks specified therein.
With the change in the borders of these districts and city, a "Shirin" modern business center will be established, leading to the construction in this area of
254 multi-storey residential buildings, 19 business and business centers, 50 social facilities, 89 recreational and shopping complexes, and a historic town.
In addition, 112 km of internal roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, 6 km of above-ground metro lines, 2 large bridges, and 7.2 km of tunnels for internal communications, 180 km of irrigation pipes, and 14 km of channels along with numerous irrigation facilities will be constructed in the area.
According to the deputies, the introduced changes will serve to further improve the living conditions of the population and expand the manufacturing and service sectors in the future.
