Individuals who smuggled narcotics from Tajikistan into Uzbekistan have been arrested.

Drug traffickers have been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

According to the UzA report, D.A., a resident of the Urgut district in Samarkand region, is currently a person, separated for a separate proceeding within a criminal case, on instructions to go to the Panjakent district of the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan and pay 20,000 US dollars for 20 kg. 747 gr. of “opium” substance previously agreed to be purchased for 100,000 US dollars.

Then, he is supposed to deliver the narcotic substance to a location close to the “Uzbek-Tajik” state border and return to Uzbekistan.

A day later, D.A., together with his criminal partner, a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, S.M., goes through bypass roads to the Panjakent district and upon receiving the narcotics carriers delivered 20 kg. 747 gr. of “opium” narcotic substance at the agreed location, they return to the territory of Uzbekistan where they are arrested.

In the course of the investigation of the criminal case initiated regarding this situation, it was found that J.R., a resident of the Urgut district, was also involved in this illegal activity.

The Urgut district court on criminal cases found citizens D.A. and S.M. guilty of committing crimes provided by articles 25, 273, 223, and 246 of the Criminal Code, sentencing each of them to 16 years and 6 months, while citizen J.R. was found guilty under articles 28,25,273 and 28,246 of the Criminal Code, and sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment.
