Reports about the detection of tuberculosis in one of the general education schools in our capital have spread on social networks.
In response to this situation, the Press Service of the Ministry of Health has announced the following.
It was revealed that a 11th-grade student M.S. from school No. 59 in the Shaykhontohur district applied to the Tashkent city 3rd phthisiology dispensary on December 26, 2024.
According to M.S.'s sister M.D., her sister has frequently been ill in recent months. She solely sought treatment at a private clinic. After the last visit to an ENT doctor, she was referred to the 3rd phthisiology dispensary.
As a result of the radiography examination at the dispensary, she was diagnosed with "Upper lobe fibrocavitary tuberculosis of the right lung, decay phase, BK +" and was immediately hospitalized at the Tashkent city hospital for children with tuberculosis.
Six contacts of M.S. (including two children under six years of age) underwent radiography examination at the 3rd phthisiology dispensary on December 27, 2024, and active tuberculosis was not detected in them.
Furthermore, students and teachers of school No. 59, where there was a risk of contracting the disease due to contact with M.S., and of a private tutoring school that the patient had attended, were subjected to radiography and Diaskintest under the supervision of the Tashkent city branch of the Sanitary Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health Committee.
During the examinations, one student (born in 2008, A.A., a close friend of the patient M.S.) was diagnosed with "Focal tuberculosis of the upper lobe of the right lung" BK abs, and she was hospitalized.
Additionally, 3 students — A.A., R.M., and E.D. — and one teacher, B.U., were found to have a susceptibility to the disease, and preventive treatment has started.
Due to the identified shortcomings, the Tashkent city branch of the Sanitary Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health Committee has issued an administrative protocol against the director of school No. 59.
Currently, because of the state program-based capital reconstruction works being carried out at school No. 59, the primary school students are continuing their studies at the general education school No. 115, while the high school students are at school No. 82 in the district.
On January 21 of this year, disinfection and fumigation activities were repeatedly carried out at school No. 82. On January 22, 2025, comprehensive cleaning and ventilation measures were taken.
In addition, similar disinfection and fumigation activities were organized at school No. 115 on January 23.
