Saida Mirziyoyeva briefly informed about the current status of Uzbekistan's accession process to the World Trade Organization here.

According to her, in 2024, the country has made a significant step forward in this direction. This was achieved as a result of the strict economic reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In particular, last year, the WTO working group held two important meetings. This allowed the initiation of drafting the main document of membership — the working group's report.

Additionally, bilateral negotiations were concluded with 15 countries including the USA, China, and Japan. As a result, Uzbekistan has 23 signed agreements on its account.

In a short time, 20 important laws were adopted to further clarify business and competition. According to her, Uzbekistan will continue at this pace in 2025 to become a full member. This is intended to increase the country's investment attractiveness and ensure Uzbek businesses' entry into regional and global value chains.

“The ultimate goal of the WTO membership and the reforms conducted by the state leader is undoubtedly to ensure the prosperity of our people, to create decent jobs for them, and to transition to a more efficient economic management system,” said the president's assistant.

Uzbekistan plans to join the World Trade Organization by 2026. Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan's decision to join this organization is a well-considered and forward-looking choice.
