A driver who drove his vehicle over a road patrol inspector in the Samarkand region has been imprisoned. This was reported by the Road Traffic Safety Information Service.

It has been reported that on January 31 of the current year, on the Great Silk Road street in the city of Samarkand, a traffic patrol officer, while performing his duties, gave a stop signal with visible gestures and a whistle to a Onix driver without a state license plate along that direction. However, the driver, disobeying the lawful demand of the inspector, ran over him, causing bodily injury and fled the scene.

“I was returning home from Payariq with my car at 20:00. When I was approaching from the direction of the microdistrict, there was an officer. I stopped when the officer stopped me, but when he told me to get out of the car, I didn't, and drove away. Without stopping, the traffic police officer threw his hands onto the hood and held on, people gave signals, I didn't hear at all. I will not repeat what I did, please forgive me,” says the driver.

Regarding this case, the Samarkand city prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case under Article 140 (violation of citizens' equality) part 3, and Article 219 (resistance against a representative of authority or a person performing civil duty) part 3 of the Criminal Code, in which the driver was detained in procedural order and a pre-trial detention measure was applied. Preliminary investigation actions are currently being conducted.
