In social networks, reports have spread about a case in the Olmaliq city of the Tashkent region where a mother reportedly burned her child's hand for eating sweets at home without permission. The Children's Ombudsman Surayyo Rahmonova has announced that the situation is under control.

It has been revealed that the incident occurred on October 30, 2024. A 34-year-old woman, Kh.A., burned the fingers and other parts of the body of her 8-year-old son, B.A., with cotton for eating the home's sweets without permission.

The woman stated that she did this supposedly to punish her child. As a result, the child suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns, causing minor bodily injuries.

The Olmaliq city police department has initiated a criminal case against Kh.A. under Article 110, part 2, paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code (Torture against a minor). However, the woman went into hiding, and a search has been announced for her.

On February 7th, the woman was detained in a procedural order, and a pre-trial detention measure was applied to her based on the relevant court decision.

For your information, if the charge is proven in court, the suspect can face penalties ranging from 360 to 480 hours of compulsory community service, or from 2 to 3 years of correctional labor, or from 2 to 5 years of restricted freedom, or up to 5 years of imprisonment.
