The fourth plenary session of the Senate discussed the law "On Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Family and Women Support System".

The provisions of the law regulate the protection of the rights of those who have suffered from domestic violence, prevent the recurrence of such pressure, and address issues related to mandatory accommodation.

According to the existing legislation, when an application is submitted to the court due to pressure and violence in the family, the court gives a specific period for the spouses to reconcile.

Regrettably, during this granted period, the recurrence of family disputes and conflicts leads to women attempting suicide, and the inflicted bodily injuries result in their untimely death.

The norms expected to be introduced into practice by the law stipulate that the court makes a decision promptly without postponing the case, which prevents regular instances of violence and serious crimes in conflict-ridden families.

In particular, it is envisaged that the court will not set a period for reconciliation at the request of the victim of domestic violence.

At the end of the discussion, the law was approved by the senators.
