Reports have spread on social media about a resident of the Chortoq district of the Fergana region who introduced himself as a relative of the regional governor—his "uncle"—and deceived several citizens to extort money. Regarding the situation, the press secretary of the Fergana regional administration, Ma'sudjon Sulaymonov, made a statement.
"Citizen B. Inamov introduced himself as a relative of the governor, exploited people's trust, and has been held accountable by a court ruling. The regional leader has no connection to this incident," the statement said, calling on mass media and bloggers to approach such events responsibly and avoid excessive defamation and sensationalism.
According to reports, B. I. was fined by a court decision for committing fraud and was released in the courtroom after accounting for the days he was detained.
In response to the false information spread in the name of Fergana regional governor Khayrullo Hayitbaev, the administration once again emphasized: "The regional governor has no such relative; these actions are fraudulent acts for personal gain."
Officials are urging citizens to remain cautious, warning, "If someone introduces themselves as a person close to the governor or tries to gain your trust by showing pictures—do not believe such claims."
